With the Ducati Multistrada 1200 S, equipped with Skyhook suspension, LED headlights and full-TFT colour display, compromise ceases to exist. While the Multistrada 1200 S D|Air allows for maximum safety. There are infinite ways in which to make the Multistrada stand out. Four customisation packages (Touring, Sport, Urban, Enduro) to enhance the type of use. A wide range of accessories to create made-to-measure kit.
You decide how to use it
“Urban” mode provides especially soft dosage and response characteristics to support the rider, max engine power is limited at 100 Hp. The DTC/DWC and ABS respond more readily than in “Touring” mode; the damping of the Skyhook EVO suspension at front and rear is softer, in keeping with the conditions.
In “Touring” mode, the control systems are set to ensure optimum performance on dry roads. This mode provides a gentle throttle response on dry roads. “Touring” combines full-engine power and torque with high controllability. Suspension setting is focused on comfort for long distance.”Sport” mode reveals the sportiest face of the new Multistrada 1200 for road riding. Full power (160 Hp), an even more spontaneous and direct throttle response, more restrained DTC/ABS/DWC intervention and tighter damping bring the full potential of the machine.
The “Enduro” mode get the Multistrada 1200 ready to explore new enduro worlds. A soft throttle response with limited engine power (100 Hp), restrained control intervention, optimum brake distribution and ABS control in conjunction with the high-traction set-up of the Skyhook EVO.
Multistrada 1200 Design
Flowing lines and essential surfaces create a volume difference between the front and rear: the final result is a dynamic, sporty design. The striking front view is characterised by an aggressive, high-tech headlight which, together with the compact rear light with light-guide effect, are iconic features of the new Multistrada. The muscular front is in contrast with the streamlined tail, enhanced by the low-slung exhaust: made of top quality aluminium, it is left in full view to integrate the side luggage supports.
Full LED Lighting
LED technology for the parking lights, low beams, high beams, tail light and front indicators.
Colour TFT display
The new full colour TFT 5″ display helps you keep everything under control, clearly and quickly. Data on the display is presented according to the Riding Mode selected, or the rider’s preferences. As well as showing speed, revs and gear, it also displays fuel range, current consumption, average consumption, average speed, air temperature and journey time.*

Backlit handlebar controls
The backlit controls on the handlebar make night riding as enjoyable and safe as riding during the day.
4 Bikes in 1
Ducati’s four-bikes-in-one concept is achieved by selecting from a choice of four pre-set Riding Modes programmed to instantly change the engine character and the riding parameters of the Multistrada 1200 – even while riding. The four modes are made possible by combining a number of class-leading technologies. An electronic Ride-by-Wire (RbW) system administers different mappings to regulate power delivery by interpreting the rider’s throttle input, while the world-beating Ducati Traction Control system (DTC) uses eight levels of system interaction to enhance control by reducing wheel-spin. For 2013, ABS is also programmed to offer the optimum setting appropriate to the Riding Mode selected and, for the ‘S’ versions, Sachs electronic suspension front and rear not only configures the suspension set-up with Riding Mode appropriate electronic adjustment, but Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) now also instantly reacts to additional inputs to maintain overall vehicle composure for a smoother ride.
Sport Riding Mode
The Sport Riding Mode provides the rider with an adrenalin-fuelled 150hp ride with a sport-oriented throttle response and, on the ‘S’ versions, an instant high performance suspension set-up with DSS reconfigured to provide appropriate active management in this mode. In character with its Superbike heritage, the sport mode also changes the DTC system intervention to level four for expert riders and ABS to level two for a performance-oriented interaction with combined front/rear function slightly reduced and “lift-up” detection deactivated for those whose ‘comfort zone’ is a little closer to the limit.
Touring Riding Mode
The Touring Riding Mode is also programmed to produce 150hp, however, the power characteristics are designed in a touring configuration with a smoother, more user-friendly delivery. Active safety is enhanced by increasing DTC system intervention to level five, specifically intended for an enjoyable and relaxing ride and ABS to a touring-oriented level three interaction for maximum confidence with “lift-up” detection activeand combined braking optimised.
Urban Riding Mode
As an urban environment often requires an even more user-friendly motorcycle, the Urban Riding Mode instantly transforms the Multistrada 1200 into the most manageable, everyday transport. Power output is reduced to 100hp, and the suspension, on the ‘S’ versions, to a setting perfect for tackling the maze of city streets full of speed bumps and drain covers. Once again, DSS is also reconfigured to provide appropriate active management in this demanding environment. DTC is further enhanced to level six to provide high system intervention during the most chaotic of stop-start traffic and ABS to a city-oriented level three interaction for maximum confidence with “lift-up” detection active and combined braking optimised.
Enduro Riding Mode
If adventure invites the Multistrada 1200 off the beaten track, it has the capability to take off-road routes in its stride. Agile and lightweight and with high, wide handlebars, serrated footrests and specially designed tyres, the Multistrada also features an Enduro Riding Mode which instantly produces a smooth 100hp engine, immediately dials-in an appropriate suspension setting on the ‘S’ versions and reconfigures DSS to provide appropriate active management. The DTC system is reduced to level two for minimal intervention and ABS to an off-road-oriented level one interaction for a low-grip terrain appropriate setting with “lift-up”detection deactivated and rear wheel ABS partially interrupted for controlled rear end drifting.
Advanced technology for maximum riding enjoyment and safety. The electronics of the new Multistrada 1200 rewrite the concept of dynamic control of the bike, without forgetting riding comfort and enjoyment.
Cornering Lights
On entering a curve, a dedicated LED automatically lights up in the direction of the road, optimising illumination of the path. No more steering in the dark.
Cruise Control
Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) Evo
DSS technology maintains a set-up that is constantly independent from the road surface, minimising oscillations. On the new Multistrada the DSS system has been further enhanced, meaning you no longer have to compromise between performance and riding comfort.*

Hands Free Ignition
To switch on the Multistrada, simply approach the bike with the electronic key in your pocket. The bike recognises the key and turns itself on, and you think about riding.
Safety Innovations
Cornering ABS
The revolutionary ABS cornering, thanks to communication with the chassis’s inertial platform, allows the system to function even through corners, improving active safety in all conditions.
Ducati Traction Control (DTC)
In just a few thousandths of a second, DTC is able to measure and control rear wheel skidding, thus considerably increasing the performance and active safety of the bike.
Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC)
Adjustable on 8 levels and derived from that of the 1199 Superleggera, the DWC analyses bike set-up and manages the torque so as to ensure maximum acceleration in safety.
D|Air® system
Thanks to special sensors, the Multistrada 1200 D|Air recognises the typical signs of a crash on the road. The airbags incorporated in the D|Air® clothing (available separately from the bike) activate, ensuring protection of the rider’s and passenger’s vital parts.*
*Available on the Multistrada 1200 S D|Air
Ducati Multimedia System
As soon as you sit in the saddle, your smartphone will automatically connect to your motorcycle via Bluetooth: phone calls and the media player can be handled with handlebar buttons, while the caller name or title of the track being played are displayed on the dashboard. You will also be warned of new incoming text messages. Thanks to the Multistrada Link App for Android and IOS, the DMS will also provide access to a full set of functions, using the data acquired from the motorcycle to enhance, integrate and share your Multistrada riding experience.
